Welcome to Psyche-Locks!

Hi, everybody, welcome to Psyche-Locks! I’m your host, AnaLyst, self-certified Magatama and Psychology enthusiast. Everybody’s got something to hide, whether they know it or not. This can certainly be said about the cast of Ace Attorney. The game’s central theme is uncovering the skeletons in someone’s closet, often quite literally. But every now and then someone will do something strange with no explanation, leaving fans to speculate about what Capcom isn’t tell us. Well enough of that, I say! It’s time to show these lawyers the other side of the Magatama and unlock the secrets hidden in their hearts and minds. To really get to the bottom of these mysteries, I’ll be using the science of psychology as a guide. Specifically, I’ll be taking the psychodynamic approach. This method, first developed by Sigmund Freud, focuses on getting inside a person’s head to explain their behavior. Freud theorized that childhood experiences and unconscious motives are the driving force behind who you are as an adult, a sentiment expressed again and again throughout the Ace Attorney series . That being the case, each character’s analysis will be split into two posts. One to focus on their childhood and delve into their unconscious, and the second to explain how all those things turned them into the characters we know and love.

Ace Attorney is going to be my main focus, but I also have plans to include characters and themes from other media and maybe do some editorials.

Disclaimer: I’m not a psychologist, nor do I have any credentials as a psychology professional of any kind. I just research these things for the fun of it. I also don’t own Ace Attorney, nor am I affiliated with Capcom in any way. I’m just a fan with an internet connection. While this blog is my intellectual property, the information I used was based on research done by others. I will include a bibliography at the bottom of every post. Also, if I somehow offended you at any point, I apologize. The subjects I talk about are to describe my interpretation of fictional characters and I am not in any way trying to insult anybody. Thanks again for visiting, please don’t sue me! 😀
